MARCH 20, 2010 — McAllen, TX: ManicHaus, Modern Art Space, is proud to present “A Clark State of Mind,” a solo exhibition by artist, Kirk Clark, will be on view at ManicHaus in McAllen, from April 2-23, 2010. An opening reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on April 2, 2010. ManicHaus is located at 1301-B, North Main Street in McAllen. Admission is free.
“I hope my art touches a curious spot in your consciousness,” Clark said.
Kirk Clark was born in McAllen, Texas, to Charles and Dorothy Clark. His parents’ enthusiastic collecting, and involvement in the contemporary art scene, greatly influenced their son. In 1956, as a ten-year-old boy, Kirk began his artistic journey when he created his first oil painting titled, “The Lone Cypress”.
Kirk studied sculpture and drawing in the mid 60s and graduated from The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. The variety of mediums he has experimented with, are a feast for the eyes and a source of inspiration. Kirk’s unique work, ranging from one of kind drawings, ornate totemic sculptures, monoprints, and jewelry, have been featured in galleries and universities in Illinois, New Mexico, South Texas, and Mexico and have captivated collectors throughout Mexico and the United States. Writing poetry in the ancient Chinese style of Bagua, compliments Kirk’s artistic passion. Kirk is married to Jeri, and father to sons Charlie, Alex, Daniel, and daughter, Anne. All are great blessings in his life.
New gallery hours are: Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 6pm; and Saturdays by appointment. Please call 956-207-0940 or e-mail: manichaus@gmail.com for more information. ManicHaus is a 2008-09 McAllen Arts Council grant recipient.
